Uncle "Pink" Floyd Covers the Basics

Alright, man. How about this.
When you first get started, you'll only have a tiny bit of the woods cleared for you to plant and harvest.
Now, I've gone ahead and set you up with an oil press for you hemp, and planted some Hemp to start you off.
Take the mature Hemp plants and put them through the Oil Press to make Hemp Oil. This sells for more than what you would get with just the Hemp plants, man.

Now, man, there's a good chance that you just leveled up. If you did, then congratulations, man! I'll give you one Pot Buck to get you started!
Take this one Pot Buck and buy yourself a Mystery Seed, man. Oh, and make sure to check out your Quests, man. It's the little silhouette of a man (skalamoosh!) holding a pitchfork. Planting a Mystery Seed is going to be one of your first Quests. They grow in 3 minutes, man, so don't wander off too far. OK?

You should know that there's some people in this world that just don't like weed, man. It's a real bummer. But the biggest hater out there is Ranger Dick. Make sure you keep up some protection while you grow your crops or that Dick will come along and bust you, man. No fun!

But not everything will get you busted. Here's a list of what's been approved by Ranger Dick.

Medical Dragon (it costs Pot Bucks, but since it's totally medicinal, man, Dick can't touch it.)
Hemp
Hops
Corn
Tomatoes
Grapes
Sugar Cane

Anything else is what we call "Ranger Bait." If you decide to grow anything not on the approved list, make sure you have your protection level above zero, man.
Fir Trees are excellent protection when you're starting out. They cost a few coins but give you one protection immediately.
But the best way to go when you're just starting out, man, is to grow some Hops. They mature in 4 hours and give you one protection. These will come in handy later when you begin making Hemp Ale. You'll have to unlock the Brewery Contraption first though, man. But don't worry. But don't worry, man. That happens at Level 13. And if you grow a bunch of Hemp in the meantime, and use your Oil Press that I set you up with, you'll be there in no time!

Oh yeah. I almost forgot, man! If you can get your hands on some Bat Guano, man, it'd really help speed up the process!
Bat Guano is a super-strength fertilizer that instantly grows any plant, man! Even if it takes 4 days to mature, just throw some Bat Guano on there and you'll have it in like a second, man!

Now how do you get Bat Guano? There's a few different ways to get it, so listen closely, man.
The first way is to search your news feed and see if your neighbors are sharing any. This is probably the least likely source of getting it, but you can also adopt Critters, get Rewards, and even Seeds through this method as well. But be fast! Those things go quick, man!

The second way is to buy them with Pot Bucks. You can get 4 bags of Bat Guano to use on 4 plants for one Pot Buck. Just click the Bat Guano icon on the left side of your farm to buy it. You can also get free Pot Bucks by completing offers. Like watching a video, filling out a survey... that kind of stuff man. But those are usually on a 15 minute delay. So don't freak out if you don't see them right away, man. You also get a couple of Pot Bucks when you level up, man.

And the last way to get Bat Guano is by adopting Jitters, man. He's a cool little pup who hunts bats at night. Every 12 hours he'll score you one bag of Bat Guano. You can adopt him by signing up for the mailing list on Facebook, man. They'll send him to you in an email.

And always remember to keep your protection above zero, man. If you happen to see one of the seeds you plated with a red ring around it, it means you've dipped below 0 protection and can get busted by that mean old Ranger Dick, man. Be careful, man. Don't let Dick get the better of you!
